MetroDeal: NailVille's Eyelash Extension Review

I was always contended with the length of my lashes until some years ago when eyelash extensions became a hit among fashionistas. Compared to their long, flirty lashes, mine was short and practical that even a curler and a good mascara can't help to make it fuller and longer.

For years now, I have this certain urge to try the eyelash extension service being offered by salons but I am always weary of the side effects that I may experience. Until recently, I came across a (supposed) good deal by Nailville posted on MetroDeal, one of the biggest online voucher shopping malls in the country.

{Nailville promo as posted on MetroDeal website}

The voucher offers a gorgeous and charming semi-permanent eyelash extensions service by Nailville for only Php199 instead of Php1500.

The deal seems promising, I thought. Reading the highlights of the deal, it says that for only Php199, I get to have eyelash extensions, the eyelashes that they will use are of high quality and I will be totally relaxed at their salon with their cool and relaxing atmosphere.

Thinking that this may be the right time to collect my courage and try eyelash extension for the very first time, I bought a voucher and scheduled an appointment. My high spirit was crushed into pieces as soon as I found their tiny "booth" at Festival Mall, Alabang.

My first thought was "What the Hell... This is now called a salon?!" The "salon" they are referring to is a tiny booth along the cluster of shops fronting the food court area. They are located at the very end near the comfort room, so you can never be relaxed because people are noisily running and walking around the area. See that floral pink curtain on the photo above? That's actually a shower curtain that they assembled to somehow obscure you (while lying flat during the session) from the view of people passing around their booth. It doesn't help much though because their booth is right in front of an escalator. So, go figure. I can't believe why they stated on their MetroDeal promo that they have a salon with relaxing and cool ambiance after seeing their sad, sad booth.

{More photos of Nailville so-called "salon" at the Festival Mall. (Photo from Nailville Facebook page.)}

The next thing I wonder is that the so-called "specialist" explained that what's included in the deal is their synthetic hair and offered to upgrade it to human hair but I will have to pay an additional Php400. I am so disappointed with the status of their salon so I just said no and let her start the session so I can leave their place as soon as possible.

{The bed where they let their clients lie down during the session. (Photo from Nailville Facebook page.)}

This bed is at the back of the floral pink curtain that was seen on the photos above. The white stool is where the "specialist" (read: attendant) sat during the session. They do have a couch adjacent to this bed for their walk-in clients who come in for their manicure and pedicure services. Imagine that, you're lying with your eyes close while other people are sitting in front of you. Very creepy. Another negative feedback about this merchant is that their attendants continue to talk and gossip while doing their job. The attendant who did my eyelash extensions was even drinking a cup of coffee during our session. Very lame service, right?

When I got home, this is what I found:

{Incorrect price offer = deceiving clients (Photo from Nailville Facebook page.)}

So, their offer of 87% discount is totally not true. The Php199 that I paid for is really just for P399, a mere 50% discount. Far from the deceiving offer that they posted on Metrodeal. With the level of service (which is lame and very unprofessional) that I received, I would never have paid them that much.

{The before and after photos of my lashes}

Even if I think that my eyes look seductive and gorgeous after the horrible trip at the Nailville salon, I never get to enjoy them for more than a week even after following their instructions on how to take care of my lashes. If ever I feel the need of getting an eyelash extension once again, I will definitely go to a more credible beauty salon.

Overall, I strongly hate the service I received from Nailville. I think their attendants were unprofessional and incompetent. I will never recommend their salon to my friends or to anyone, for that matter. The next time I found a deal like this on MetroDeal, I will make it a point to research about the merchant first before buying the deal with my hard-earned money to avoid extreme disappointments like this.

  3. It's hard to reach them. It kept on ringing but no one's answering the phone even during mall hours.

  4. I agree with the clamp space. I just saw their booth here is Festival Mall. Nakakatawa naman yung sinabi nila na relaxing eh daanan ng tao. Very cheap-looking!

  5. I thought they have a pretty decent space at Festival Mall when I saw their promo at Metrodeal. I was about to buy a voucher when I stumbled upon your post. Thanks for the heads up.

  7. Experienced same thing for Nailville Cubao - eyelash perm. The voucher was 160 but the "salon" charged 100 peso additional for eyelash protection saying that chemicals for curling are bad for hair. The bad experiences you noted are exactly the same as mine. Also, this service is 199 if you go to salon directly, go figure.

  8. Omg. Only read your blog now, right after I had my eyelash perm worth 159 at the cubao branch. Had to sit up the whole time since they didn't have beds, even for those having eyelash extensions. The salon interior felt something like your old palengke salon, complete with the couch that you could literally peel off the upholstery. They told me I had to pay 100 more for the conditioning of the lashes afterwards, blah, blah, blah, (which I was able to haggle for P50, then again di naman ako pumayag initially coz I thought I'll wait for the perm to be finished but apparently while my eyes are closed, nilagyan na daw nila nung solution). So there. This experience is my 2nd where I felt cheated with these Metrodeal thingies, and will serve as a really good reminder to stop my addiction to this whole vouchers thing.

  10. WOW. The deal's available again and I'm thinking of buying it and going for this tomorrow. Buti na lang I stumbled upon your blog. Kaya pala wala akong mahanap na review. Your lashes looked great pero kung one week lang and with that hassle... no thanks. Thank you so much for saving me! :)

  11. I had eyelash perm in their Cubao branch last Monday, and I must say, their salon looked like your old "palengke" salon complete with the couch that you can literally peel off the upholstery. They advertise their location as " Nailville Farmers" so you'd think it was actually INSIDE the mall but it isn't. It is located along EDSA, the side which is Pasay-bound, just a few steps from the Farmers footbridge. It is one cheap-looking salon. They did not have beds or reclining chairs for this branch so the ones avaling of the eyelash extension had to sit upright the whole time. I had to sit upright during the entire process. Before we started, the "ATE" (possibly the owner or chief beautician) asked me if I wanted to avail of the hair collagen (?) and hair spa (?) for an additional P100. I thought it was for my hair, but it turns out, this was also for my eyelashes, she told me the hair becomes brittle after the process of perming, though this was optional. I thought to myself, I was having my lashes permed for the last 12 years and I never encountered a single salon that offered this kind of treatment. She said she'll start with the process while I think about it, I closed my eyes as she started the process. When it was over, I gave them my vouvher, and she was asking me for the additional fee! Great job in your "raket" ATE, very sneaky. I did not even feel she did anything different compared with me previous perms from other salons. I did argue with her, hopefully the other customers felt empowered if they too had complaints. So, there you have it, that was my horrible experience with them. It was just unfortunate I wasn't able to stumble upon your blog prior to buying. Let me just say that Metrodeal deals are becoming more and more sneaky.. So gotta find reviews first before buying anything.

  12. Thanks for the honest feedback about the place! I was about to buy a voucher when I saw your post. It pays to do some research first. I hope this never happens to you again!

  14. I have to agree with your review. Had mine done at their Festival Mall branch. They offered the eyelash conditioning for additional 100.00, which I said yes pero hindi na ako nagbigay ng tip. The service is awful and hindi pa pantay yung pagkakalagay ng false lashes. Won't go back ever again. Very stressful.
